SAN JOSÉ, California, December 05, 2016 — Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd. (“Boviet Solar” or “the Company”), a leading solar energy technology company specializing in advanced monocrystalline PV cells and premium Gamma Series™ Monofacial and Vega Series™ Bifacial PV modules, announced that its PV modules were selected for a Solar Builder Magazine Editor’s Choice Award recognized project, highlighting innovative financing, energy storage integration, and educational impact in a public-school application.
The Solar Builder Magazine Editor’s Choice Award, announced on December 5, 2026, recognized the North Putnam Schools Solar Project in Indiana for its creative approach to infrastructure modernization, cost savings, and student engagement in clean energy.
Project Overview: North Putnam Schools Solar Project
North Putnam Schools required significant facility upgrades, and Johnson-Melloh Solutions (JMS) proposed a solar farm spanning approximately six acres as a long-term solution. The project was delivered through a capital lease agreement supported by a non-debt service financing structure via a community bank. This approach required no upfront capital investment, did not increase the local tax level, and achieved positive cash flow in the first year, even after annual lease payments.
The system integrates energy storage, allowing facilities to rely on stored power during peak demand periods to reduce electricity costs. Excess energy is exported to the grid at a steady rate throughout the day, lowering overall utility expenses. Although the school’s transmission and distribution infrastructure limits grid export to 500 kW, this constraint is effectively managed through the intelligent controls of the energy storage system.
Beyond financial and operational benefits, the project delivers strong educational value. Students gain hands-on exposure to renewable energy and efficiency concepts by monitoring system performance in real time through JLM Energy’s Measurz software dashboard, displayed on kiosks throughout the school campus.
“Projects like the North Putnam Schools solar installation demonstrate how innovative financing and smart system design can make clean energy accessible to public institutions while delivering immediate economic and educational benefits,” said Songul Atacan, Head of Global Brand and Marketing at Boviet Solar. “At Boviet Solar, we are proud to support school districts and public-sector partners with reliable PV modules that help reduce operating costs, strengthen energy resilience, and create real-world learning opportunities for students.”
Boviet Solar’s PV modules were selected for their reliability, performance, and long-term durability, supporting an award-winning project that modernizes public infrastructure while advancing sustainability and energy education.
