SAN JOSÉ, Calif., September 14, 2021 — Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd. (“Boviet Solar” or “the Company”), a leading solar energy technology company specializing in advanced monocrystalline PV cells and premium Gamma Series™ Monofacial and Vega Series™ Bifacial PV modules, proudly announces its participation in a Solar Builder Magazine Project of the Year Award–nominated project, Jack’s Solar Garden in Longmont, Colorado, recognized by Solar Builder Magazine for its groundbreaking integration of agriculture, solar energy, research, workforce training, and community benefit.
The project demonstrates how utility-scale community solar can support dual land use, scientific research, local food systems, and equitable access to clean energy.
Project Overview
Jack’s Solar Garden
Location: Longmont, Colorado (Boulder County)
System Size: 1.2 MW
Project Type: Community Solar + Agrivoltaics
Project Partners
Jack’s Solar Garden is the largest agrivoltaics research and community solar site in the United States, co-developed to advance both renewable energy production and agricultural innovation. The 1.2 MW solar garden supports active research partnerships with institutions including NREL, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona, providing a living laboratory for agrivoltaic practices.
Beyond research, the project operates as a community solar garden and serves as a national model for inclusive clean-energy development. Through its nonprofit arm, Jack’s Solar Garden trains a new generation of dual land-use farmers, helping build skills at the intersection of agriculture and renewable energy.
The site partners with Audubon Rockies to plant more than 1,800 pollinator-friendly perennials around the perimeter and works with Sprout City Farms to manage crop production beneath the solar array while training agrivoltaic farmers across Colorado. In addition, 2% of the project’s energy production is donated to low-income households in Boulder County, and food grown on site helps support Longmont residents experiencing food insecurity. The project also hosts an “Artist on the Farm” program, providing space and support for local creatives.
“This Project of the Year nomination sets a powerful example of how solar energy can deliver value far beyond electricity generation,” said Songul Atacan, Head of Global Brand and Marketing at Boviet Solar. “Jack’s Solar Garden shows what’s possible when renewable energy, agriculture, research, and community impact come together. At Boviet Solar, we are proud to support projects like this with high-performance PV modules that enable innovation, education, and inclusive clean-energy solutions.”
Boviet Solar’s PV modules were selected for their performance, durability, and long-term reliability, supporting consistent energy production in a complex dual-use environment. The Solar Builder Project of the Year Award nomination underscores how thoughtful project design, strong partnerships, and proven solar technology can deliver measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits for communities nationwide.
